If my head wasn't throbbing, I'd be laughing out loud. Princess Leia hat (free knitting pattern), found via not martha.

This and the tutu bag post will have to be my Crafty Fun "Friday" post this week.

[info]milady1, wouldn't your little ballerina love this?

Arrrr! For all my Pirate/Privateer Buds...

Another entry that can't wait until the Crafty Fun Friday post (which I don't think is happening this week anyway): Look what I found over at The Felt Mouse today: A store entirely devoted to pirates (Pirates Cove). She's lucky to live near the brick & mortar shop, but lucky for us they have an online store too.

This is going to be a long day. I'm up an hour early for a meeting that I found out about at the end of the day yesterday. Last night, I picked up my dad from a class, and it was pouring. It had rained so hard in such a short amount of time that the water was over the tops of my shoes. Then there was all the fumbling with the wheelchair, etc. I managed to keep him pretty dry (had an umbrella), but got soaked to the skin more than once myself. I didn't melt, but it was cold! I went straight into a hot shower when I got home, then to bed with comfy covers and pillows to watch some Supernatural.

Um, yeah. Had to buy it.

I used to wear this dead-center of my bodice at the Renaissance Festivals. Since I don't really get to do them anymore (my dad has been in the hospital for the last 2 seasons, and it looks like that will be the case this year too), I put this in a safe place.

But since Dad is in the hospital (again), tells everyone that I'm a bitch, and bought* this for me, it's on my purse.

Want one? I'm not affiliated, but will tell you I got it here.

*He paid for it, I picked it out.

In other news, I got my swap partner for the Vintage Button Swap and am ready to mail these buttons.

Good Read

Posie Gets Cozy is a fairly new find on my bloglines list, but one I've enjoyed quite a bit. Of course, she's the owner of THE craft room/studio I linked to some time before. Recently, she came across a stack of old letters at an estate sale and has been obsessively reading, organizing and piecing together the history. Start here to read this interesting story.

In other news, Shim + Sons (another blog I've referred to, in Crafty Fun Friday), is organizing a vintage button swap. It's got a fairly short lead time, so check it out if you like buttons.

Finally, another blog I enjoy a lot is Yarnstorm. Her daughter Phoebe is a creative pastry chef who isn't old enough to use the oven yet. Check out the cake she designed and decorated for a friend, here.

Why am I up & posting at 4-something AM on my vacation? Weird-ass migraine, of course. Just when I thought I'd gotten over it, then the puking started. Whoopie! But I did get some sleep, and am feeling better. Just, surprisingly, up and pretty wide awake at 4:20. I'll try sleep again soon. In fact, as soon as I hit "update," I'm off!

I'm ordering me one right now!

(oh, standard disclaimer - no affiliation, yada yada yada)

ETA: Wow, she sold out! I don't think she expected that. It's going into the second printing... I got my order in just in time, it seems. You can sign up to get a notification when the new shipment is in.

If you look on my sidebar, there is a link to my Bloglines subscriptions, and you can see that I subscribe to 153(!) blogs, mostly about knitting. The number of blogs I read was always large, but it increased after Bloglines, because I don't have to open them all to see if there is anything new. Bloglines tells me. Right now I'm a couple of days behind, and have over 100 entries to read, but that's okay. It's the weekend. Just because, I thought I'd share a list of the ones I click on first (I love 'em all -- there are just a few faves):

Dooce (non-knitting, very funny)
Not Martha
Rabbitch
Yarn-A-Go-Go
Crazy Aunt Purl
Yarn Harlot
knit and tonic
Extreme Adventures in Motherhood and Knitting (I know this blogger personally, so I have to check in and see what she's up to)
the casting on couch
Carrioke's Knitting Blog

There are many more faves, but this is a good representation. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Emergency Kit in an Altoid Tin

Thinking that there is no way I'd get all of my "emergency" stuff into an Altoid tin. I like the idea, for sure. But I'm such an overpacker.

My "Miss A" kit covers a lot of territory. (I see it comes in green now...)*

*I know someone who said goodbye to her mother at the airport security checkpoint rather than give up her Miss A kit.

Lookie! I'm not knitting sweaters yet, but I thought this set of stitchmarkers was pretty spiffy. It's bookmarked!

I wish... and a sewing update

I wish these weren't so long! Green monster knitting needles? But I know from experience that I stick to the shorter needles. Still, how fun! I wanted to share in case anyone was looking for some quirky fun for their own knitting.

In the sewing category, the princess dress is finished. I'm dropping it off this morning on the way to work so [info]saltnlt552 can put the elastic in at the neckline and snip all the threads. After making a mini chemise, slip, donut headress-thing & sash, I was all in. I made a slip because the fabric ended up looking kind of sheer after it was washed. I also went ahead and made the chemise full. It was the simplest way to get the "Ren Princess" look for a little girl with the little bit of time we had. With a sash tied around the waist and the gathers adjusted, it will look sweet.

Time for work. Happy Friday!

Knitphomaniac...LMAO!

(I do not use LMAO loosely, oh, no).

I WANT this shirt! Actually I want several shirts from this site! I'm a little sad that the green knitphomaniac shirt doesn't come in grown-up girl sizes, but the pink one goes up to 2X. For that phrase on my chest, I'd wear a pink shirt.

Maybe Santa is reading, and I'll find one in my stocking come Christmas morn?
