I took Sunday kind of easy. There were many things I wanted to get done, but I couldn't get motivated enough (Saturday was a rough night, and I was kind of wiped out). What I did do:
Changed the sheets, washed all the dirty sheets. We have 3 sets, so if I don't wash the 2 dirty sets when the 3d set goes on, this is trouble.
Made pillowcases. We only have 1½ sets of pillow cases (that match), so this means the cases don't get washed often enough. Well, I fixed that! I found striped fabric that has all 3 colors of our sheets (gold, sage and cranberry) and made* a full set of (4) cases. Too easy, and they're adorable! I love that they go with everything.
Now, I want to make new shams, in a coordinating pattern. A summer coverlet would be nice, but I don't know if I'm up to making a king-size one on my first try.
Made pillowcase for John's "super pillow". One of those super-duper space age pillows with all the little beads. He loves it! But he had a theory that the case I made for it was too firm, which compressed it too much. So, ages ago, I picked up some cotton knit fabric to make a case. Serves me right for grabbing it out of the remnant bin! There wasn't enough to do the whole pillow, so one side is in the knit fabric, and the back (with the overlapping flaps) matches the new pillow cases.
Watched several episodes of season 1 CSI. Why don't I learn? If I watch a marathon of any kind, my dreams are messed up. Regardless, I slept pretty well, so I can't complain.
I'm going into work late today. John has an issue with his registration, so he can't drive his car until we resolve it. I'm taking him up to city hall (not our town, tho, b/c they suck), then I'll go to work.
June 5 is a sad day in 1 way for me. I'm happy for them, of course, but my friend and neighbor, Jen (
saltnlt552) is officially out of her house as of today. We'll still see each other, and talk, but I'll miss hanging presents on each others' doorknobs and going for defusing walks around the block.
*Link to "pattern" for cases. Note that there is an error on this otherwise simple set of instructions. When she says to cut a large rectangle 33-5/8" x 20-1/4", she forgot to double the short side (open edge). If you follow those directions, you'll get one side of the case. So just double the short side (and add a little, if you aren't a precise sewer (like me)) and cut a rectangle that is 33-5/8" x 40.5".)
What I do is a little easier. I take 1 yd. of 45" fabric and wash/dry it. I usually use 100% cotton, so this shrinks it a little. I press it, fold right sides together, and sew along the long selvedge (I don't do french seams), and the bottom. Then I follow her directions for the top hem, trimming a little if needed, and folding down as much as I need to make it the right length.
